What do I need to begin piano lessons?
You will need access to a keyboard with 88 weighted keys OR a piano. You may rent a keyboard monthly from your local music store OR find something on Marketplace. If you need help sourcing a piano, don’t hesitate to contact Rebecca.
What do I need to begin singing lessons?
You need a comfortable space to sing in that has room for both student and teacher. The kitchen, family room or living room are great choices! If you do not have a piano or keyboard, Rebecca will provide all backing tracks, vocal warm up tracks and practice tracks for you to practice with.
What do I need to begin Early Childhood Music lessons?
Nothing! Just a comfortable, open space where your baby is able to move around safely. Rebecca will bring all materials, instruments and sensory toys. Extra parent or caregiver handouts will be distributed periodically. A piano is not needed, but will be incorporated into the lesson if it’s in the family home.
How long are lessons typically?
Lessons begin at 30 minutes, which is recommended for beginners of all ages, especially those under the age of 10 years. If recommended by the teacher or requested by the family, lessons can also be 45 minutes or 60 minutes in length.
What areas do you provide your services?
Sparrow & Song Studio services Chilliwack and the surrounding areas of Yarrow and Greendale, as well as Coquitlam. If unsure about your location, please contact Rebecca directly!
How old does my child need to be for lessons?
At Sparrow & Song Studio, students may begin their musical journey as young as 3 months old! Our Early Childhood Music classes, Pre-K Piano and Singing classes, as well as our regular piano and singing classes cover a wide age range and learning needs, with the ability to adapt for each age group.
Is parent involvement required?
Parent/Caregiver Involvement – Adult participation is required for all Early Childhood Music classes. It is strongly recommended for all Pre-K classes – however this can vary student to student. Adult participation is optional for students ages 6 and up! Sparrow & Song Studio gently encourages family involvement, as it’s the best way to build strong and confident musicians. This can look different for everyone, so please contact Rebecca directly for ideas or suggestions on how to support your child in their musical journey.
Do you offer online lessons?
Online lessons coming soon – Winter 2027!
Does Sparrow & Song do recitals?
Yes, these happen three times a year and are optional to all students! At Sparrow & Song Studio, it’s all about the process, not the performance.
Do you host any open house events?
How are payments made?
Payment is made at the beginning of each term: September, January and April. Invoices will be issued BEFORE the first lesson, and payment will be collected no later than 24 hours after the first lesson. Late payments will be subject to an interest charge up to two weeks.
What payment types do you accept?
Payment Methods: E-transfer, cash, debit or credit card. Receipts are available upon request.
